The Youth Development Project is a support and information service for young people and services or groups working with young people in the Cessnock Local Government Area.
Aims and Objectives The program aims to:
Develop and increase the range of services and programs available to young people in the Cessnock Local Government Area.
Identify and respond to issues affecting young people
Provide support, training and resources to services or groups working with young people
Improve young people's awareness of services and facilities available for them to use
Raise general awareness and understanding of the issues and needs of local young people
Promote youth consultation and participation
Promote positive youth culture within local community
Participate in Regional Youth Development Officers Network
Develop sector and partnerships through regular youth inter agencies
What does the service do
School-based programs
Coordinates and convenes the Cessnock Youth Interagency network
Coordinates the Cessnock Youth Entertainment Committee
Youth events
School welfare planning
The annual RYDON (Regional Youth Development Officers Network) conference
Holiday activities
Youth development camps and retreats
Provides training and resources to local youth services
Access to Service The service is open to young people aged between 12 and 25 years and to services that work with young people. All young people and youth services are welcome to contact the project for support, information, resources or consultation.
